KENDALL OUTDOOR EDUCATION FOUNDATION |
|
The KOEF is a not-for-profit organization with the purpose of supporting outdoor education through The Kendall County Outdoor Education Center located at Silver Springs State Park. Your donation will continue to give youth the opportunity to develop an awareness of and appreciation for the natural environment. Outdoor programs in ecology, water quality, insect, and wildlife studies help connect youth with nature and understand their place in that connection. Through challenging experiences on the Teams Course, youth gain respect for self and others. Working as a team, they develop greater self-confidence by using communication and cooperation to solve problems. Invest in The Kendall Outdoor Education Foundation (KOEF) and help us continue to offer high-quality experiential education programs to our local schools and other youth |

KENDALL COUNTY OUTDOOR EDUCATION CENTER |
|
The Kendall County Outdoor Education Center (KCOEC) is located in the 1400 acre Silver Springs State Park, five miles west of Yorkville, Illinois. The Regional Office of Education acts as the administrative agent for the center.
Because of this unique setting, the KCOEC has access to five acres of restored prairie, hardwood forests, several lakes, and the Fox River. The facility also has several teaching stations, including a small indoor classroom, a team challenge course, a living history area, and a Native American tipi.
The mission of the KCOEC is to provide students the opportunity for experiential learning in an outdoor setting. A common thread woven into all outdoor education activities is a strong stewardship responsibility, conservation ethic, and environmental harmony.
While enhancing the standard school curriculum, the KCOEC offers the opportunity for student decision-making, self-confidence development, team building, risk taking, leadership development, and personal adventure.
